An abstract dark nebula. Watercolors on paper, salt and white ink.
This work was my final project for the very first watercolor class I took. It consists of a free-flow nebula painting made with a lot of water. It took several layers to create the depth and the subtle color mixing to make it look like clouds in space. To add texture I used some salt and finished adding white ink to make the stars.
When the painting dried I noticed the colors where not as dark as I expected. Watercolors are very transparent and when the work dries usually they tend to fade. So I decided to do a little bit of digital adjustments to make it this dark. The original looks more gray than it looks black, but in it you can see the texture better.
